The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Sunday said its troops killed a notorious bandit leader named Yellow Jambros.
Yellow Jambros was the mastermind behind several kidnappings and killings along the Abuja–Kaduna Road and in several communities in Kaduna, Niger, Katsina and Zamfara States, according to NAF spokesperson Edward Gabkwet.
The slain terrorist kingpin, alongside his gang members, was killed by a missile striking the river launch the band was riding on their way to Chikun County of Niger State for a rendezvous with other terrorists.
The soldiers trailed the rebels from Zamfara State to Niger State. The gang travelled on 13 motorcycles and were joined by another gang riding five motorcycles at Kusasu in Shiroro County of Niger State.
The soldiers fired a munition that killed at least 36 terrorists and possibly more since bandits typically ride on bikes with two or more mercenary passengers, according to TruthNigeria analysts. “The precision strike was adjudged effective as it neutralized Yellow Jambros and his colleagues, destroyed their motorcycles and sank the boat,” Gwabwet said via a statement.
The Air Force attack is the latest action by Nigerian security forces to capture or kill marauding bandits in the majority Muslim Northern states of Katsina, Zamfara, Niger and Kaduna. Similar initiatives have not been seen against marauding bands of mercenary killers in the majority Christian states of Nasarawa and Plateau.
Similarly, NAF troops “Operation Hadin Kai” razed an ammunition dump of Boko Haram jihadists in Borno State on Saturday (December 9). The troop of soldiers gunned down scores of terrorists too.
The attack on the armory followed an intelligence operation that revealed a congregation of outlaws in the area, according to Zagazola Makama.
