Gunmen on Monday night assassinated a high-ranking traditional chief of Itunsokun village in Sagamu county of Ogun State, the police confirmed on Tuesday.
The three-man gang reportedly broke into the residence of Chief Bashorun Abiodun Folarin, around 10:45 p.m. local time. They repeatedly shot into the air to scare nearby residents away before going for their target, shooting him in the head.
“This is a case of suspected murder or assassination because the unknown gunmen did not take anything away,” police spokesperson Omolola Odutola told local press. Odutola added that the police have swung into action to bring the killers to book.
