Bandits struck on Friday in Akoko North East county of Ondo State in Southwest Nigeria, killing the driver of an 18-seater commercial bus.
The armed gang also abducted all the passengers of the vehicle, leaving behind a little girl, according to local media. The travellers were headed to the Southeast region of Nigeria from Lagos State.
The gunmen attacked the travelers at Akunu–Akoko village. They opened fire on the bus. A bullet hit the driver and he died on the spot. Everyone, except a little girl, was taken away.
Police authorities have since confirmed the attack, saying officers have been deployed to the scene “for the rescue of victims and possible arrest of suspects.”
