Nigerian troops have rescued five women and two babies reportedly kidnapped in January in the North-central part of the country.
They were kidnapped from Marange village in Kagara county of Niger State and taken to the Kuyambana forest in Zamfara State.
Lieutenant Suleiman Omale, the information officer of military taskforce Operation Hadarin Daji, said the victims were rescued on March 13 “following relentless offensive operations carried out by the vigilant troops in the Kuyambana area.”
Omale added that the troops exerted “unwavering pressure” on the rebels which led to the liberation of the hostages.
