Nigerian Forces Dismantle Bandit Enclaves, Notorious Leader Reported Killed

Nigerian troops believe they have successfully dislodged several bandit camps across the troubled northern region, eliminating scores of militants in the process.  Security sources claim that a notorious bandit leader, Aminu Dogo, is believed to be among those killed in the operations.

Dogo, who had been linked to numerous kidnappings and attacks, was a prominent figure within the bandit ranks. His reported demise is seen as a major blow to the criminal groups operating in the region, according to the Nigerian army.

Dogo and his gang members were slain on May 1st, Zagazola Makama reports. As TruthNigeria has reported, the Nigerian military has maintained an aggressive posture against the terror groups. A combination of airstrikes and ground assaults have been used to take down fortified terrorist camps in different areas within Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina and other parts of the Northwest region.

The attack on Dogo’s camp coincided with the repelling of an attack on two communities in Tsafe County of Zamfara State by the terrorist group led by kingpins Kachallah Hassan Nabamamu, Kachallah Mal Tukur and Kachallah Baldu. Details about the military operation were not shared in detail, but Zagazola Makama suggests casualties among the bandits number in the dozens.

Ezinwanne Onwuka reports for TruthNigeria from Abuja.
