Nigeria’s Defense Minister, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, met with stakeholders in Plateau State to address pressing security concerns, particularly in Barkin Ladi, Riyom, Bokkos, Wase, and Bassa Counties.
Plateau in central Nigeria has been facing a prolonged security crisis, fueled by ethno-religious tensions and attacks on Christian communities by Fulani Muslim herders. The State has witnessed numerous attacks and killings, prompting concerns about the government’s ability to maintain law and order.
“The Federal Government is committed to deploying all assets to ensure our people sleep with their eyes closed,” Badaru assured. He called for community engagement, credible intelligence, and collective action to tackle the security challenges.
Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, represented by Brig. Gen. Gakji Shipi, expressed optimism about the stakeholders’ engagement outcomes. “These discussions are key to resolving our security issues,” Shipi said.
