Revenge Attack Claims Notorious Bandit Leader Kachalla Mai Shayi and 12 Followers

Gang members loyal to the late Kachalla Nagala ambushed Kachalla Mai Shayi, a notorious bandit leader, and his followers in Zamfara State, resulting in the death of Mai Shayi and twelve of his men. The ambush took place between the villages of Buroyi and Buzaya, near Sangerawa in the Bini district of Maru County (Local Government Area).

According to reports, Mai Shayi was a key lieutenant of another notorious bandit leader, Kachalla Yellow Mai Bille. The attack is believed to be part of a series of revenge killings between rival factions operating in the forests of Zamfara.

The feud was reportedly triggered after Kachalla Yellow Mai Bille killed Kachalla Nagala, prompting Nagala’s followers to seek retaliation. “The followers of the late Kachalla Nagala are now reportedly seeking to target Yellow Mai Bille, Sojan Zakwaui, and Yellon Emir in revenge for the death of their leader,” Zagazola Makama say.

The ongoing violence has continued to claim the lives of several bandits, particularly their leaders, as rival factions battle for dominance in the region. The situation has heightened concerns over the escalating cycle of violence in the Northwest State.
