Troops Kill Two Bandits During Ransom Exchange in Kaduna

Two bandits were killed by Nigerian soldiers while attempting to collect a ₦1.5 million ($917.52) ransom for four abducted victims in Kachia County of Kaduna State.

The victims, three women and a child, were reportedly kidnapped from a farm last week. The troops, who had been informed of the planned ransom exchange, ambushed the bandits and opened fire, killing two of them.

“As two of the bandits came out to pick the ransom, the troops opened fire at them and killed the two of them instantly,” a community leader, speaking on the incident, said. The kidnapped victims were subsequently rescued by the soldiers and reunited with their families.

The incident happened in Mai-Iddo village, where the bandits had arranged to collect the ransom payment. The troops worked in coordination with local citizen guards to set up the ambush.
