Nigeria’s armed forces have announced major successes in recent anti-terrorism and anti-crime operations, including the arrest of a wanted cross-border terrorist, Abubakar Bawa Ibrahim, also known as Habu Dogo.
Troops apprehended Habu Dogo in Rumji Village, Sokoto state, as part of ongoing efforts to counter insurgency and terrorism.
The Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Edward Buba, stated Saturday that these operations are “degrading the combat capacity of terrorists across the country.” Habu Dogo, he said, is “a wanted terrorist on the watch list of security agencies both in Nigeria and in the Niger Republic.”
Buba reported that, during recent operations, troops killed 187 insurgents and arrested 262 suspects. Additionally, they rescued 147 kidnapped hostages, and seized a large cache of weapons and ammunition.
Buba noted that “the terrorists are left with no choice but to surrender or be killed on the battlefield.”
