Troops Killed 43 Terrorists in One Week: Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters

Abuja’s Defence Headquarters said the Nigerian military killed 43 terrorists in the first week of 2024.

Major General Edward Buba said on Friday that the terrorists were cracked down in various ambushes, raids, fighting patrols and other offensive operations across the country.

The General did not explain the paucity of arrests in Plateau State after Christmas killings.  Police authorities in Nigeria said on Jan. 4 that 11 days after the massacre of 295 persons over Christmas holidays in Plateau only eight persons have been apprehended.

The slain terrorists include leaders of terror gangs and several foot soldiers. General Buba added that within the same week, 115 outlaws were apprehended with 87 assorted weapons and 666 assorted ammunition recovered.

He assured that the military is unrelenting in its effort to hunt down terrorists and make the country safer for Nigerians. “We assure that we will defeat the terrorists on the battlefield and in their hiding places in order that our country can flourish again,” General Buba said.
