Nigerian Army Dismisses Two Soldiers for Alleged Theft at Dangote Refinery

The Nigerian Army has punished the misconduct of two soldiers by expelling them from the ranks: Corporal Innocent Joseph and Lance Corporal Jacob Gani.  The soldiers were accused of stealing armored cables from the Dangote Refinery in Lagos.

Apprehended on April 14, they were found with a significant amount of cut cables at the refinery’s exit.  Following an investigation with Dangote officials, the Army confirmed their dismissal on Monday, April 22.

According to Major General Nwachukwu, the army spokesperson, the soldiers had not only left their assigned posts but were also in illegal possession of the cables.  A military trial found them guilty of breaching the Armed Forces Act for neglecting their duties.

In his statement, Major General Nwachukwu said their dismissal underscored the Army’s “zero tolerance” for criminal activity within its ranks. This action highlights their dedication to maintaining the integrity and reputation of the Nigerian Army.
