Katsina State police have successfully foiled three separate kidnapping attempts by armed bandits in recent days. In a statement released on Monday, the police said that eight victims were rescued unharmed during the incidents.
According to police spokesperson ASP Abubakar Sadiq, the attacks took place on October 7 in the Danmusa and Faskari local government areas. In one instance, armed bandits intercepted two women on the outskirts of Matarau village, while in another, they blocked a road and kidnapped four people.
Sadiq said that police officers responded quickly to the distress calls and engaged the assailants in gunfights, forcing them to flee. The kidnapped victims were rescued unharmed, and the attackers escaped with gunshot wounds.
The Commissioner of Police commended the officers for their bravery and reiterated the command’s commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety of residents in the state.
