Security Alert: for Plateau Villages in Riyom County, Nigeria

Truth Nigeria Security Alert for Plateau Villages in Riyom County, Nigeria July 4

JOS—Several hundred terrorists in Central Plateau State have targeted the villages of Tahoss and Jebu approximately 27 miles southwest of the capital of Jos,  according   to security experts speaking on background to Truth Nigeria. There is a high probability of an attack on the evening of July 4,” according to the source,  who asked not to be named for fear of retribution.

“The attackers are  massing in the Fulani ethnic settlement of Bangai, approximately 4 miles from Tahoss. They are moving on motorbikes, 3 men to a bike and may number as many as 800,” the source said.  Tahoss is a large village of approximately 3,000 residents; Jebu has approximately 200 residents. The two villages are located no more than a mile away from the Sector Six Military Base, where soldiers and armored personnel carriers are housed, according to the source.  The region is well known for its rich farmland and abundant deposits of tin as well as minerals.  Many of the local residents are artisanal miners of tin.

“As far as we can tell, the residents of Tahoss and Jebu are sheltering in place. We sent the security alert to them around 6:20 p.m. , the same time that we notified the Sector Six officers, “  the source said to Truth Nigeria. They have neighborhood watchers armed with single-shot rifles, but they will be vastly outnumbered by the hundreds of attackers, if they do attack,” according to the source.

The weather conditions are rainy and relatively cold, with temperatures ranging from 60 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit. “The terrorists deliberately attack when the weather is rainy,  because they know the citizen guards typically don’t have raincoats and therefore fewer of them will stand guard after nightfall, “ according to the source.

The Administrative Officer was called by Truth Nigeria and asked for a comment regarding troop readiness for the attack, but he said he needed to call back on another number but did not return the call.
