Locals on the run because of threats by terrorists

Eight communities in Kaga County of Borno State are now desolate following a chilling evacuation notice issued to locals by Boko Haram jihadists.

The rebel group, The PUNCH reports, ordered residents to desert their respective communities or face severe attacks as a form of vengeance after the Nigerian military slew scores of terrorist fighters.

Locals were given only three days to leave or face dire consequences. At the expiration of the ultimatum, the terrorists in their hundreds stormed the villages, driving people out of their houses and killing many.

Survivors of the ordeal have fled to Benishek, a nearby community, to resettle as internally displaced persons (IDPs).

“The villagers have since been trooping to Benishek as IDPs with their families,” a Benishek local told PUNCH, “And on their way to Benishek, they have to be maneuvering through bush paths to avoid coming across the terrorists, who have already killed some of them.”
