Nigerian Airforce strikes ISWAP training camp, dozens of terrorists slain

Troops of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) have bombed the training camp of the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP) in Lake Chad. The Air Force claims to have killed a large number of jihadists.

The December 16 operation followed intelligence reports that the terrorists had established a training camp in the area and were meeting up for an imminent attack on Nigeria’s military bases, according to a Chad Basin security and counter-insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama.

The terrorists’ camp was located at Bukar Mairam in Marte county, Borno State. Properties and several logistics of the rebel group were destroyed. Only a few survivors reportedly were seen fleeing the area after the bombing.
