Police raid bandit camp in Imo, killing commander

The police in Imo State, Southeast Nigeria, told the press on Tuesday that it has eliminated a bandit leader who has been on the wanted list for months.

The slain bandit,  police said, is linked to the murder of two police officers, as reported by TruthNigeria on November 29.

The police had stormed the hideout of the bandits in the Aboh-Mbaise area of the State on Monday to apprehend the gang members. The bandit leader, the second-in-command of the group, was gunned down in the fire fight that ensued.

“Others escaped with gunshot injuries,” the police said, adding that they are working relentlessly to track down everyone still at large.
