Police authorities in Borno State defused a bomb planted at the school gate of the University of Maiduguri.
Police spokesperson Nahum Daso said a “suspicious device” was spotted near the main gate of the tertiary institution about 9:00 a.m. on Monday (Dec. 4).
The police bomb-disposal team immediately was deployed to the scene. The team confirmed the device to be a homemade improvised explosive device (IED) and went ahead to defuse it “without loss of lives or property.”
The police combed the area to make sure there were no other hidden devices. Daso said an investigation has begun to find the bombers.
