The Nigerian Army has said it rescued 35 kidnapped victims during a raid on a terrorist camp in Dumburum Forest in Katsina State.
Captain Yahaya Ibrahim, the information officer of “Operation Hadarin Daji” joint task force, said on Tuesday that the troops also killed two terrorists during the search-and-rescue operation on Saturday, January 27.
Capt. Ibrahim added that the soldiers gunned down the terrorists during an intense gun battle. “Others escaped with severe gunshot wounds,” he said.
The freed prisoners; 19 males, 12 females and four children were taken to the State Governor, Dikko Radda. The Governor gave a cash gift of N100,000 (US$105.11) to each of the rescued victims to help them stand on their feet after the agonizing ordeal.
