Bandits Disguised As Soldiers Raid Katsina Village, Abduct 31 Persons

About 31 locals of Tasharnagulle village in Batsari county of Katsina State were taken as hostages on Sunday night following a quiet attack on the village by bandits.

According to residents who spoke to the Nigerian media, the bandits were dressed in military uniform. They spread fire on storming the village but deceived the locals who were already on edge that they were sent to protect them.

“They knew that when they said they were policemen or soldiers sent to protect us, we would believe them, and that was what happened,” an anonymous source told LEADERSHIP.

The source said the bandits assembled the locals at the village center and ordered everyone to march with them towards an unknown place. Several people were able to slip away unnoticed as it dawned on them that their supposed protectors were not what they claimed to be.

While locals confirmed the attack to the press, police authorities are unaware of it, saying they would still investigate the incident.
