A wave of terror engulfs Benue State as bands of Fulani militia unleashed a ruthless attack across three villages in Agatu county. Eight locals have fallen to the bandits firepower with the whereabout of scores unknown.
The bandits struck on Saturday at midday and raided three villages of Ogwumogbo, Ikpele and Ejima unchallenged until 4:00 p.m. local time.
Agatu, a town inhabited mostly by Christians, faces escalating threats from the Fulani militia. “No one is coming to our aid and the Governor is quiet,” Godwin Edoh, who represents Agatu in the State legislature, told the Nigerian press.
Saturday’s attack is the third in two weeks, the PUNCH said. And locals are already deserting their homes to seek refuge in nearby villages.
