There has been unrest in relatively peaceful Ekiti State after gunmen, suspected to be armed herdsmen, slew two kings in the southern State.
The traditional rulers; the Elesun of Esun-Ekiti, Oba Babatunde Ogunsakin; and Onimojo of Imojo-Ekiti, Oba Olatunde Olushola were killed on Monday by gunmen who ambushed them on a highway.
They were returning to Ekiti from a meeting in Northcentral Kogi State where the state of Nigeria’s deteriorating security was discussed.
The Alara of Ara Ikole, Oba Adebayo Fatoba, the driver of the vehicle, narrowly escaped the attack.
On the heels of the attack came the abduction of schoolchildren and their headteacher after school hours on Monday.
The report by Peoples Gazette did not say the number of pupils abducted. The driver of the school bus was also taken away.
