Nigeria’s passport remains among the 10 worst passports to hold when traveling in 2024. London-based Henley & Partners ranked the passport 95th globally.
Despite Nigeria being the largest economy in Africa, the country’s traveling document allows visa-free access to only 45 countries, reflecting the challenges of international travel for Nigerians often attributed to political instability and conflict.
Countries such as Nigeria, with weaker passports, often face challenges in international trade, investment, and the exchange of skills, which are crucial for economic progress.
The Nigerian green passport was ranked among the world’s bottom 10 alongside Iran, Lebanon and Sudan. The United States and Canada, meanwhile, are tied in seventh place, along with Hungary, with visa-free access to 188 destinations.
