Four abducted persons have been rescued in a military operation in Kebbi, one of the kidnap-for-ransom hot spots in the Northwest flank of Nigeria.
The operation was carried out by a team of the Nigerian Army, officers of paramilitary Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and local civilian guards.
The raided kidnappers’ den is in Sabon Gari village in Shanga County of Kebbi State.
One of the bandits was killed in the operation while other gang members retreated with wounds from the gun battle that broke out between the gang and the troops.
The security operatives also seized some properties of the bandits, including three AK-47 rifles, three magazines, 142 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and two pairs of camouflage uniforms.
