Super Eagles Move to AFCON Quarters After Lashing Cameroon 2-0

The Super Eagles, Nigeria’s national men’s football team, has advanced to the quarterfinals in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman was the hero for Nigeria as his two goals, one in each half, earned the Super Eagles a place in the quarter-finals where they will clash with Angola.

The Nigerian coach Jose Peseiro commended his players for a fantastic game, but said he is more concerned about the clash with Angola coming up on Feb. 2. Nigeria’s chances of moving onto the semi-finals of the tournament depends on the upcoming game.

The Cameroonian head coach Rigobert Song said his team were just unlucky against the Nigerian team. “They were not better than us, they just used their chances and we were affected by our inexperience and not doing what we were supposed to do,” he said at the post match conference.
