Terror came down on the peaceful Kwari village in Geidam county of Northeast Yobe State in the early hours of Friday as terrorists, suspected to be Boko Haram jihadists, killed Pastor Luka Levong of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN).
The Islamic insurgents attacked the village at about 2:00 a.m. local time on Friday. Pastor Levong was shot dead alongside his church treasurer, Maina Abdullahi.
Channels Television reports that the terrorists went from house to house to attack locals. The locals were at the mercy of the rebels who wreaked havoc unchallenged for nearly an hour.
Four other people were killed during the invasion with several houses, a church building and vehicles razed to the ground.
Despite the severity of the incident, there is an eerie silence from the authorities, according to TV media. The Nigerian police and military have yet to comment on the incident.
