Abuja-based Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has given a serious warning to terrorists, bandits, and kidnappers in Nigeria: surrender or be killed. There is no other choice.
The military would not back down on its aggressive posture against the armed criminal gangs or political insurgencies to ensure that they continue to suffer heavy casualties, said Major General Edward Buba at a press briefing on Thursday.
“Since the beginning of the year, several terrorists and their leaders have been killed or badly injured owing to offensive actions by both land and air forces,” DHQ spokesman Buba noted.
He said the military eliminated 266 terrorists, apprehended 463, and rescued 116 kidnapped persons in January, and in the past week (Feb. 1 – Feb. 7), Nigerian troops killed 105 terrorists, arrested 140, and rescued 86 hostages.
The continued onslaught on terrorists, according to the Major General, leaves the armed groups with the options of turning themselves in or “get ready to be killed.”
