Police authorities in Akwa Ibom State, South-South Nigeria, have described as “unfortunate” the murder of one of its officers, Inspector Osang.
The Inspector was attacked at his residence on Wednesday night by unknown gunmen who forced themselves in while gunshots were fired to keep neighbours off.
“When the dust was cleared, the lifeless body was found in the pool of blood with the severed head lying close to the body,” a resident, Effiong Attai told LEADERSHIP.
Police spokesman Odiko Mac-Don said the incident does not deter the police from the job of “ridding the streets of criminal elements”, the PUNCH reports. He added that an investigation has commenced to apprehend the killers of the officer.
