The police in Nigeria’s capital city Abuja have arrested the notorious leader of a kidnap gang, Samaila Wakili Fafa, popularly known as Habu Ibrahim.
Ibrahim has been on the police wanted list “for a long time”, police spokesperson Josephine Adeh said at a press briefing on Tuesday.
The kidnap kingpin was behind several kidnapping operations in Nigeria’s capital territory and its environs. The Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike recently placed a N20 million (US$12,697.94 using the official exchange rate of US$1=N1,575.15) bounty on him alongside another bandit Saidu Abdulkadir, alias Dahiru Adamu.
While Adamu has already been apprehended, Ibrahim has always managed to escape capture by security operatives but he ran out of luck on February 24, 2024.
The police, “acting on credible intelligence”, laid a siege in Sardauna Forest in Toto County of Nasarawa State which led to Ibrahim’s arrest. Toto is a 54-mile distance from Abuja.
