Terrorists Kill 6, Burn Houses and Motorbikes in Katsina

Terrorists stormed Yan-Nasarawa village in Faskari county of Katsina State on Monday night, leaving a trail of six corpses, and burnt houses and motorcycles, police authorities said on Tuesday.

Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Aliyu told local press that the attackers were armed to the teeth with sophisticated AK-47 rifles. Sounds of heavy gunshots at about 11:30 p.m. local time jolted the locals from sleep.

“They shot and killed six persons, injured 10, and set ablaze three houses and about 10 vehicles,” said Aliyu.

Local media also reports that the terrorists abducted an unspecified number of people and looted six food shops before setting them on fire. Among those killed was the village head, Haruna Wakiki.

Police spokesman Aliyu said “tactical, operational and intelligence operatives” have been deployed to the community to “comb the surrounding bushes for the possible arrest of the perpetrators for diligent prosecution.”
