The people of Riruwai community, in Toro County (Local Government Area) of Bauchi State are in deep mourning following the assassination of their village head, Alhaji Garba Badamasi.
Local media reported yesterday that Badamasi was abducted by masked gunmen who attacked the remote village Friday, March 15. The chief’s whereabouts remained unknown until Sunday when his corpse was recovered by locals who searched surrounding bushes for him in the hopes of capturing the assailants.
A local of Toro, Mahmud Tunga, described the situation in the community to Premium Times. “We live in total fear, because nobody knows what will happen next, and who is going to be picked and murdered by these hoodlums. The tragic abduction and murder of our traditional ruler has touched everybody in this village,” he said.
