The Nigerian Army (NA) has arrested a family of eight that runs a local gun manufacturing business in Nigeria.
The family’s factory, located at Onicha Ulona in Aniocha South County of Delta State, was busted on Tuesday morning after the Nigerian Army (NA) received a tip.
The family has manufactured local guns, drones, and explosives, and repairs all kinds of arms. The factory boasts reportedly had a capacity to churn out ten guns per week. The owners also rent out the manufactured guns and drones.
The business owner, Emmanuel Eboka, 22 years old, his parents and siblings all confessed to being part of the “family business”, according to the NA.
“A normal AK-47 magazine carries 30 rounds, but this man is modifying an AK-47 magazine to carry 60 rounds,” Commander of the NA 63rd Brigade, Brigadier General Ugochukwu Unachukwu, said to local press.
Unachukwu said the activities at the factory were the major drivers of insecurity in the Southeast region of Nigeria as well as other parts of the country.
