“What is happening will end soon.” These were the words of Nigeria’s defence chief, General Christopher Musa on Monday during a visit to Kaduna State as he spoke about the unbridled violent attacks in Nigeria.
Gen. Musa was in Kaduna to offer his condolences following the abduction of dozens of schoolchildren on March 7. Apart from the Kuriga incident, Kaduna has witnessed violent attacks in different communities since February 28 with the latest being the kidnapping of 87 persons in Kajuru in the early hours of Monday.
Yet, the defence chief chose to focus on the March 7 incident. “We are reassuring you that we are not sleeping. There are many troops coming, and we are taking more actions to safeguard and bring the children out safely, as quickly as possible,” he said.
Gen. Musa noted that the military had zero tolerance for terrorism, saying “You, the parents, we know, have been having sleepless nights; we are also experiencing the same. For those individuals who have sworn there will be no peace, they will equally see no peace, and we will follow them anywhere they are.”
