A military base in Yobe State, Nigeria, came under attack by suspected terrorists on Saturday night, March 23, 2024. The attack, which occurred in Gujba town, Gujba county, resulted in the death of one soldier.
Details surrounding the incident remain sketchy. However, according to Yobe State Police Command spokesperson DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, a firefight ensued between the terrorists and the troops stationed at the base.
Reports from residents suggest the attackers stormed the town around midnight, shooting sporadically before targeting the military base, according to local media.
While troops were reportedly able to repel the attack and chase the assailants into the surrounding bush, they were unable to prevent the death of a soldier. A military patrol vehicle was also destroyed by the terrorists.
