Nigerian Air Force Strike Eliminates Terrorists in Zamfara

In a decisive move against terror groups operating in the northwest, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) conducted a successful airstrike in Zamfara State, eliminating a significant number of terrorists.

The operation, carried out under the umbrella of Operation Hadarin Daji and reported April 11 by TruthNigeria, targeted insurgents in Zurmi, Gusau and Maradun counties (Local Government Areas) of Zamfara.

Details regarding the exact number of terrorists neutralized were not made public. However, NAF spokesman Edward Gabkwet confirmed on Thursday that the airstrike inflicted heavy casualties on the terror group as “several terrorists” were gunned down. Nigerian ground forces were not in the area and did not capture images of fallen terrorists, however.

As reported by Zagazola Makama, the bandits, in large numbers, were moving from a forest in Zamfara State with the intention of attacking villages within the area. “The location was struck by multiple aircraft passes, thereby neutralizing several terrorists,” said Gabkwet.

The airstrike comes amidst ongoing efforts by Nigerian security forces to combat terrorism in the region. Zamfara, along with other northwestern states, has faced violence from armed groups involved in kidnappings, killings, and attacks on communities.

Ezinwanne Onwuka reports for TruthNigeria from Abuja.
