Nigerian army forces successfully thwarted a planned terrorist attack in Kaduna state on April 13th, 2024. Acting on intelligence, troops set up an ambush near Rafin Sariki village of Giwa County (Local Government Area) targeted at a group of terrorists known to use motorbikes to carry out attacks in the region.
Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Public Relations for the Nigerian Army, said on Sunday that the terrorists were “transiting with a sack containing weapons.” A gunfight erupted as the troops intercepted the terrorists, resulting in the elimination of two members of the group.
No Nigerian soldiers were reported wounded or killed in the operation. The army also recovered weapons and equipment, including an AK-47 rifle, 52 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and one locally fabricated revolver frame.
Gen. Nwachukwu said the operation highlights the Nigerian Army’s ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and protect the nation. “The Nigerian Army remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of the citizenry and the nation in general. The NA will thus, continue to take decisive actions against terrorist activities in the region,” he assured.
