Police Arrest 8 Suspects Linked to Murder of Six Officers in Delta

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has announced the arrest of eight suspects in connection with the brutal murders of six police officers in Delta State, southern Nigeria.

The officers were killed in separate ambushes in the Ughelli area of the state between February 23rd and 26th. Three officers were initially reported missing after responding to a distress call, while another team sent for a rescue mission was also ambushed, resulting in the deaths of six officers. Six other police officers are still missing.

Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the arrests in a statement released on Saturday. He revealed that five suspects were apprehended initially, with another three arrested later at different locations across the state.

“Following intensive investigative efforts,” Adejobi said, “the police have apprehended eight (8) suspects in connection with the brutal ambush attack.”

The statement offered no details regarding the identity of the suspects or the specific charges they may face. However, Mr. Adejobi assured that the “killers of our officers in this extant case, and many others, have murdered peace, and none of them will go unpunished.” The public is awaiting further information on the investigation and the potential motives behind the killings.
