Two Persons Flung into Lagos Lagoon After Bus Accident

A horrific accident yesterday on the Third Mainland Bridge saw two passengers thrown from an 18-seater bus and into the Lagos Lagoon. The impact of the crash, which occurred near the Adeniyi Adele axis inbound Lagos Island, is believed to be a result of speeding.

Ibrahim Farinloye, Lagos Territorial Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), confirmed the incident. “The force of the crash caused two passengers, an adult male and female, to be ejected from the vehicle,” he said.

Marine Police are still searching for the missing individuals. Other passengers on the bus, which had the registration number FKJ 872 YA, sustained injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation, but reports suggest the driver may have lost control due to high speed. Farinloye said that the driver of the vehicle swerved off the road and hit the bridge railings.

Ezinwanne Onwuka reports for TruthNigeria from Abuja.
