Emirates Airlines announced on Thursday the resumption of passenger flight operations to Nigeria, starting October 1, 2024. The airline will operate a daily service between Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub, and Dubai, the airline’s central hub.
This news comes after Emirates suspended flights to Nigeria in November 2022 due to difficulties repatriating $85 million in revenue generated in the country. The airline expressed excitement about reconnecting Nigerian travelers with Dubai and their extensive global network, which includes over 140 destinations.
The Lagos–Dubai route will be operated using a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, offering passengers a comfortable and modern flying experience. The resumption of flights is expected to strengthen trade ties between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates.
Emirates’ announcement only addresses the resumption of flights. No updates were provided regarding potential changes in visa requirements for Nigerian travelers visiting the UAE.
