Gunmen Abduct Catholic Priest in Adamawa

A pall of fear has fallen over the Catholic Diocese of Yola, Adamawa State following the abduction of a priest, Reverend Father Oliver Buba.  Gunmen believed to be terrorists snatched Father Buba from the rectory of St. Rita’s Catholic Church in Bare, Numan County (Local Government Area), on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.

The Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Dami Mamza, has called on all “Christian faithful and men and women of good will to earnestly pray for the quick and safe release” of the priest.

The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the incident and has launched a full-scale operation to locate Father Buba and apprehend his abductors.
