Tragedy Strikes Lagos as Mosque Collapses During Prayers

A mosque in Lagos, Nigeria, suffered a devastating collapse on Sunday, May 26th, during afternoon prayers. While the full extent of the tragedy is still unfolding, authorities confirmed that ten persons were trapped in the rubble.

Initial reports painted a grim picture, suggesting that dozens were killed, but updates from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) said otherwise. Only one life was lost while other casualties were rushed to the hospital.

LASEMA officials believe the excavator clearing a nearby road accidentally hit the one-story mosque, triggering the collapse. Emergency responders are working tirelessly, employing heavy machinery to remove debris and locate survivors.

Lagos State Police and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) are also on-site, supporting the rescue operation.
