Nigerian Air Force (NAF) jets roared into action over Kaduna and Katsina states, pounding suspected terrorist camps in a decisive operation.
The operations, code-named Operation Whirl Punch and Operation Hadarin Daji, targeted locations identified through intelligence reports as havens for terrorist activity in Kaduna and Katsina, respectively.
The Kaduna strikes, on May 30th and 31st, 2024, were executed at the stronghold of infamous terrorist Buharinyadi, at Bula Forest in Giwa County. On June 2, 2024, NAF fighter jets targeted the hideout of terrorist kingpin Alhaji Iliya at Zango Hill in Kankara County in Katsina.
NAF intelligence meticulously pinpointed the locations, ensuring surgical strikes that destroyed the targeted terrorist camps, inflicting significant casualties on the terrorists.
This action, said NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, underscores the Nigerian military’s unwavering commitment to combating the scourge of terrorism and banditry plaguing the north. Kaduna and Katsina in the Northwest region have borne the brunt of these criminal activities, with residents facing constant threats of kidnappings, cattle thefts, and violent attacks.
