In addition to the seven residents killed, scores, including women and children, were also reportedly abducted. The death toll is feared to rise as some injured victims are still receiving treatment in the hospital.
Authorities have not yet spoken about the violence. However, Katsina has become a hotspot for terrorist activity, with groups frequently launching raids that result in kidnappings, deaths, and devastation.
This violence has cast a long shadow over the State, leaving residents fearful and vulnerable. The Nigerian military has undertaken operations against these bandit gangs, but the fight for lasting security remains a challenge.
