Joint Security Operation Turns Deadly; Immigration Officer Fatally Shot

An immigration officer, Christopher Agwom, was killed by gunmen during a raid on a suspected criminal hideout in Plateau State, authorities said on Wednesday. The incident took place on July 10th in Fann village, Barkin-Ladi county.

According to Aliyu Danja, acting deputy director of army public relations, a joint security team from Operation Safe Haven and the III Division of the Nigerian Army was attacked by gunmen while trying to recover arms from a suspected gunrunners’ hideout.

Assistant Superintendent Agwom lost his life in the attack. Following this, security forces conducted another operation in the area, arresting seven suspects and recovering arms and ammunition.
