The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed the rescue of three people who were abducted in the state and killed one of the bandits.
According to police spokesperson ASP Mansir Hassan, a tip-off received around 1:30 p.m. local time on Tuesday alerted authorities about an ongoing attack at Rugar Sojidi, a Fulani settlement in the Northcentral State. By the time police arrived, the bandits had already abducted three residents.
A decisive response ensued. A well-armed police patrol team engaged the bandits in a shootout. Law enforcement’s superior firepower forced the criminals to abandon their attempt and flee into the surrounding bushes.
The abducted residents were unharmed and successfully rescued while one of the attackers was gunned down. “The nearby bush area was thoroughly combed for the possible arrest of any suspects,” Hassan said.
The Kaduna State Police Command said it is actively pursuing the fleeing suspects to apprehend them.
