Nigerian Troops Clash with Boko Haram in Sambisa Forest: 10 Terrorists Downed

On June 29, 2024, Nigerian troops, in collaboration with hybrid forces, launched an operation in Sambisa Forest, Borno State, resulting in the combat death of 10 terrorists, either of Boko Haram or ISWAP in the notorious Garin Ba’abba terrorists’ enclave.

The fierce gun battle forced the surviving terrorists to retreat, abandoning their camp, according to Nigerian military accounts. The troops proceeded to raze down the deserted shelters in the area. There were no casualties on the side of the Nigerian military.

This development comes amidst continued efforts by Nigerian forces to counter the activities of Boko Haram, a militant Islamist group responsible for violence and instability in northeastern Nigeria for over a decade.

The Sambisa Forest has long served as a stronghold for Boko Haram, though recent military operations have seen the group displaced and forced to retreat into more remote areas.
