Nigerian Troops Kill Over 100 Terrorists in Weeklong Sweep

Nigerian military forces launched a major offensive against terrorist groups in the country, killing more than 100 insurgents and rescuing more than 100 kidnapped civilians  in the past week.

The Defense Headquarters announced on Thursday that troops engaged in multiple operations across multiple regions successfully decimated 106 terrorists, freed 103 abducted civilians, and arrested 164 suspected militants.

Major General Edward Buba, the director of defense media operations, hailed the operation as a major victory in the ongoing battle against terrorism. He credited the success to increased intelligence gathering, improved coordination among security agencies, and the unwavering commitment of troops on the ground.

During the operations, a large cache of weapons was seized, including locally made pistols, Dane guns, Ak-47s, and special ammunition was recovered.

Buba added that the armed forces’ aggressive posture against terrorists resulted in the surrender of 1,760 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists and their families in Borno State, Northeast Nigeria.
