The Nigerian contingent is set to make its mark at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, with a strong representation across 11 sports. From the athletic tracks to the basketball court, Nigeria is poised to showcase its sporting prowess on the global stage.
Nigeria’s 88-member squad will compete in basketball, track and field, boxing, soccer, badminton, cycling, wrestling, canoeing, weightlifting, table tennis, and taekwondo. Among the standout athletes are Oluwatobilola Amusan (track and field), Asisat Oshoala (football), and Favour Ofili (track and field) who are expected to be strong medal contenders.
John Owan Enoh, Minister of Sports Development, is optimistic about Team Nigeria’s chances, urging the athletes to surpass the country’s best-ever Olympic performance, achieved at the 1996 Atlanta Games.
“Our athletes are putting in tremendous effort and dedication in their preparations,” Enoh said. “With the support of every Nigerian, our team will excel and make the nation proud.”
With just five days to go until the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France, the entire nation is united in support of Team Nigeria, with hopes and expectations running high.
