Six suspected bandits were killed in a shootout with police in the Sankera area of Benue State on Saturday, July 27th.
Authorities said officers from a joint task force known as Operation Zenda tracked the outlaws to their hideout in Mbavuur Ward, Logo County (Local Government Area), where a firefight erupted.
Police spokesperson Catherine Anene said the operation was carried out following credible intelligence about a string of crimes by bandits in the area. Officers recovered several weapons at the scene.
Investigations are ongoing to apprehend fleeing members of the gang. “Corpses were recovered and deposited at NKST Ugba morgue, while fleeing suspects are still being trailed,” Anene said.
