Explosion Hits Opposition Party’s Headquarters in Southern Nigeria

An explosion struck the secretariat of the Action People’s Party (APP) in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, early Monday morning, causing a significant disturbance. The incident was noted at approximately 1:00 a.m. local time, and authorities are still working to determine the cause of the blast.

“I cannot say if it was a bomb explosion yet. We have commenced investigation,” said police spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko, noting that the damage was relatively minor.

Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, spokesperson for Nigeria’s Opposition Coalition, swiftly condemned the attack on the political party’s headquarters, revealing that the national chairman narrowly escaped harm.

Ugochinyere, a member of the Nigerian House of Representatives, suspects political motivations behind the incident and urged President Bola Tinubu to take swift action against the escalating threat of political violence.

“Mr. President, they will bomb down this democracy. Stop these men now before it’s too late,” he warned, emphasizing the need for immediate action to prevent further attacks.
