The Nigerian Army has announced the capture of two top Boko Haram commanders and the surrender of 50 suspects along with their families.
According to a statement released by the Army, troops apprehended Bana Yamode and Babagana Usman, two suspected Boko Haram commanders, who had infiltrated a displaced persons camp in Borno. The suspects had previously led attacks on troops in the area.
In addition to the high-profile arrests, the army reported that 50 Boko Haram suspects and their families have surrendered to troops in Bama, Gwoza, and Dikwa Counties (Local Government Areas). The surrender comes as the army intensifies its operations against the terrorist group.
The army also announced the apprehension of three Boko Haram collaborators at a market in Gubio, who admitted to involvement in kidnapping and armed robbery. Furthermore, troops arrested a notorious kidnapping kingpin, Mohammed Bello, in Kogi State, and foiled a kidnap attempt in Ebonyi, apprehending a suspect with an ATM card, 48 international passports, and other items.
This crackdown comes as the Nigerian Army continues its fight against terrorism and insurgency in the country.
